Spring 2014 Startup Weekend Northwest Indiana Recap

What? No more? All that planning and 54 hours later, the inaugural Startup Weekend Northwest Indiana is in the book. The Spring 2014 event was everything we hoped for and more. We vetted 16 ideas, narrowed them down to 3 and came away with a winner: PillSched.

What is PillSched?

PillSched is a prescription medication regulation app that helps individuals centralize the needs for themselves as well as those for whom they care. The idea was founded by Ginny Angert, who was inspired by her everyday work as a nurse practitioner.

The team now has additional resources thanks in part to Startup Weekend. Those resources includes the first place prize – one year free office space in Purdue Research Park in Merrillville, IN.

“Startup Weekend offered me an opportunity to find other people who brought exciting perspectives to my idea.” Angert said. “Over the weekend, the mentors and our team helped develop my idea into something that was far more than I had originally expected.”

The other teams are continuing as well

The other teams – 2nd place’s Happy People Network and 3rd place’s Connexis – are continuing forward with their mission. Connexis is having follow up meetings this week to talk to investors and acclimate development support. You can track their progress on connexsis.co.

What the experts have to say

On my way to see the #SWNWI final presentations! Excited to see what the teams put together since yesterday! – Cameron Banga, 9Magnets.com. Startup Weekend Northwest Indiana mentor.

”The teams really put forth a great effort. They went from strangers to friends after 3 days in the trenches together. We need more of that around here. – Chris Bake. Senior Software Architect, SitterCity.com / Biziports/BakedFinn. Startup Weekend Northwest Indiana mentor.
